St.Gallen, October - At the Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks Spring/Summer 2024, Forster Willi and Jakob Schlaepfer once again convinced the international fashion design elite with their sophisticated creations. Changing fashion trends are already being felt by the St.Gallen textile manufacturers through their orders.
In this year's collections, Business Unit Head Forster Willi, Elisheva Senn, noticed one thing in particular: "Luxury is becoming quieter, but surpasses everything in its soul". This refined and restrained style relies on craftsmanship, which is why it is currently highly praised. "Everyone is looking for stories behind the materials," Senn continues. Fabio Di Silvio, managing director of Jakob Schlaepfer, also senses the shift to the "quite luxury" trend, adding, "You didn't see much reference to clearly visible finishing techniques in this year's collection."
Forster Willi for Christian Dior
The three creations for Christian Dior feature a classic guipure, which is made of pure cotton yarn. The French fashion house wanted to take their famous and timeless motif "Toile-de-Jouy" as embroidery. Classic "Toile-de-Jouy" fabrics are made of cotton and printed with scenes of rural life, landscapes or mythological stories. These classic motifs were also integrated into the embroidery creation. This resulted in an inte-ressive combination of textile and embroidery art and the timeless elegance of "Toile-de-Jouy" was emphasized. The monochrome character was also retained.

Forster Willi for Chanel
The Forster Willi creation for the Chanel runway is a soutache embroidery with a filigree floral pattern. The Chanel logo was worked into the center of the flowers. Sequin thread was carefully embroidered together with fine polyester thread and then the auxiliary fabric was removed to achieve the desired guipure effect.
